Survival of the Fittest
If you're a fan of good, old-fashioned, edge-of-your-seat suspense, this movie is right up your alley. John Goodman plays a survivalist who may or may not also be an unstable homicidal maniac. He claims to be a good Samaritan by saving the life of an attractive car accident victim, but has her chained up in his underground shelter. Almost a good movie
Ostensibly this movie is related to the original cloverfield. Other than the threat of alien invasion it has little to nothing to do with the original Cloverfield. The plot is an engaging and believable psycho drama for the first 3/4 of the movie. The characters are interesting. And then the 50 gallon drum of acid appears and everything including the plot and acting gets ugly. By the end of the movie what is supposed to be a psychodrama / scifi horror has become completely unbelievable.
