An excellent selection of Stukeley's illustrations.
These fine drawings are attractive in themselves and very informative about much that has been lost since Stukeley's journeys in the 1720s, for example at Avebury. There is enough text in the 140 pages to put it all in historical context, as well as lists of the sites depicted and many suggestions for further reading. The figures of Stukeley and others, plus horses and even dogs, add a perspective to these landscapes, which make me want to see them both from afar and up close, instead of merely passing by and paying casual attention. My perspective on English landscapes has certainly been changed by seeing them creatively depicted as here and not merely photographed.
