Not overly impressed with Burris this time
Like the title says. Not overly impressed. First off the picatinny adapter is not reversible. I don't like the fact the large side nut is right in the way of the ejection port. Plus it should not be that large/obtrusive and sticking out of an otherwise svelte optic. I replaced an older red dot and compared the 2 and the older one is made much better and beefier. I love Burris products, but their designers skimped on some simple aspects of the sight and mounting aspects. These things are not real hard to think about guys. To me, it's just cutting corners and taking the easy route while cheapening up the product. To those that say the large nut sticking out of the side of the mount is not large, need to reevaluate and not mislead potential purchasers of this product. Now, for sighting in and using, this red dot works as advertised. I like the smaller 3 moa dot and the brightness settings. Easy to use side button. How it actually holds up is yet to be determined, but I'm hopeful it's going to last as long as the older red dot its replacing. Also, this is not designed to be used on a weaver style mount, just to warn you. The adaptor plate rocks on the weaver style mount because the side screw that goes in the slot is round and not square on the bottom. You will either have to modify your weaver mount or the side screw that is used to clamp the adaptor to your base. Not a huge deal, but may be a concern for the guy that does not have a proper file or other means to deepen the slot. Use a picatinny mount and you will be fine. However, if your pistol is set up with a weaver style mount, you will need to make preparations for this..
