Recommended Recovery Reading
Grieving--things that have been lost and things that never were--is a normal part of the experience of living with alcoholism. This book examines that theme in great detail, relating Al-Anon members' experience, strength and hope on the subject. I have recommended it to several friends who are struggling with various aspects of loss and loaned my copy out about a year ago. I figure when my Al-Anon books don't come back to me, the other person needed it worse than I did, so I'm just replacing it.

Opening Our Hearts: Transforming Our Losses, from Al-Anon Family Groups, 2007. Whether you are a parent who has lost a child, or an Adult Child of an Alcoholic (loss of your childhood), or your spouse has passed away, this is a very helpful book. Highly recommended reading if you are grieving the loss of a loved one.
