THE RED VIOLIN follows the unusual journey of an original and unique violin as it survives three centuries, ultimately turning up at a present-day auction in Montreal. The violin transforms all those who play it into a Svengali, from traveling Gypsies to a famous concert violinist in England. The mysterious object also narrowly avoids confiscation in Communist China, and seems to always survive the different lives of those it touches. In the present day it becomes the subject of fascination for a violin historian, played by Samuel L. An epic journey through time!
To say I absolutely love this movie would be an understatement. This film literally and figuratively sings, and soars with every note. It's a transformative journey, with so many layers and so many splurges of great characters. The way it all wraps together, the way it flows back and forth in time, is the stuff of movie magic. You have so many sequences that beautifully wrap together. The tarot reading. The Auction. the different stories tied through both. I saw this back in theaters years ago and it is every bit as good now as then. It's a story of great things, of pain, of loss, of transformations. Dark yet beautiful

A great tale.
I love this movie. It has a good story line and superb images all the way. recommended for those whom love music an original stories.
