Based on Jane Austen's classic drama and romance novel, this Pride and Prejudice two-disc set tells the story of the Bennet family and about life and courtship on a 1800s British country estate. Elizabeth Bennet is one of the five sisters on the estate and is reluctant to marry until she meets Fitzwilliam Darcy. This two-disc recording was adapted from what was originally aired as a five-hour miniseries in the year 2010 on the BBC network and A&E Home Video allows it to be watched by a wider audience. Pride and Prejudice spans 300 minutes of episode time plus an additional 23 minutes of extras including cast and director commentary. In this drama, the main character of Elizabeth is played by Jennifer Ehle and her suitor, Darcy, is played by Colin Firth. Susannah Harker, Crispin Bonham Carter, and Adrian Lukis also round out the cast. Pride and Prejudice does not have a formal rating and can be enjoyed by viewers ages 1 to 101.

Pride & Prejudice done very well.
This movie, in excess of 5 hours, is a great movie to enjoy, albeit not what young ones desire... which is fast-moving, thrills a second. Better than thrills this movie teaches a lesson... to learn humility and not to be a respecter of persons other than yourself. Darcy was all of that, but learned better. Why can't we? Bought another for a present for my daughter who doesn's own a copy but who has seen this one and she says it sticks closer to the book than the other newer version.

Best one
I really enjoy this adaptation of Jane Austen book. I have three different Pride and Prejudice movies. This one is the best of all. (and that is saying something because the others are great also) The characters truly become part of your world. I suppose the length of this series makes that possible You really get to know and understand them.

Excellent version, easily my new favorite!!
I'd always heard of this version, but only seen the movie from 05. Very impressed with this version, I've already seen it several times since receiving in the mail!! Highly recommended. The only thing that could've iced the cake is more bonus features.

Best Pride and Prejudice Mini-Series
Colin Firth is Darcy. The entire production is marvelous, especially the music. This is a remastered video from the original negatives which the colors are amazing and the details are clear. The Bonus section on disc 2 is very informative.

Disappointing restoration
This is one of our favorite movies. We recently bought a huge screen and our old copy was a bit blurry when blown up. This was a rare exception as most of our movies look awesome. This version claims to be restored so we had high expectations. Unfortunately we are disappointed. Yes, it's a bit better than our old original, but not so much so that's why I'm only giving it 3 stars.

Pride and prejudice is the best romantic story ever told.
I love, love, love this movie. The storytelling and acting we're excellent. It's the best movie ever.

We love the movie with Keira Knightley. This series is much longer and very good. It expands the story to be closer to the book.

Too many trailers
I played my 10th anniversary edition so much I needed a new copy. This is the same except for the trailers and the editing. Can't complain too much, the price was minimal.

A&E Pride and Prejudice Mini Series
This Mini Series far exceeds any other at capturing what Jane Austin wrote. It is excellent in every respect.
