Good Read but...
The actual delivered book was 100%. This review is about Content - Maybe it's just me, but this is the 24th full length novel in the series not counting shorts and novellas. I've read them all and I'll read the next. And maybe I just have mystery/adventure burnout. I'm closing in on 60 years old, a prolific reader, and have done pre-Sherlock (( Raffles anyone?) into 2018. So I've read a lot of plots and twists. I like Lee Child because he usually throws my assumptions for a loop. Reels me in and then "WHAT?!?". Not this time. I figured out the "mystery" early in the book. But maybe it's just me. Other than that, it's a standard Reacher novel. Reacher walks into town in town, immediately ticks off every dangerous faction he can find and alienates most everyone else.A good read, but sort of like Stephanie Plum #24, Morelli or Ranger? Feed Rex and find your bullets.

Should be retitled, "Pretense"
The plot line of having Reacher explore the history of his father's upbringing was intriguing but took too long to develop and the linkage to the 2 Canadian hostages was tenuously boring at best. I have read most of Lee Child/Jack Reacher efforts, sometimes 2-3 times to identify the hidden nuances in Child's writing style, but this novel was so cumbersome and laborious to slog through that even the lurking physical persona of Jack Reacher could not save the reader from monotony and disappointment. Every author is entitled to one whiff. Hopefully, with Past Tense, Lee Child has gotten his mulligan behind him.

Great book. I recommend it to everyone.
Lee Child is one of my favorite authors. Every one of his books keep you on the edge of your seat all the way to the end,

Waste of time
No real plot. No real action. Nothing at all happens until 2/3rds of novel read. It seems Lee Childs had someone else write it or he was in a rush to get it out. The weak plot that does show up I had seen in other books and movies before. I've read all the Reacher series and seen all the movies and this was not a Reacher novel. In fact, Reacher isn't in half of it. No character development at all. You don't know these people nor do you care to. The family history Reacher is looking for is confusing but u don't care. One line by a female character he could have developed a relationship with all she says most of the time is " Get out of town "

Good Book by Lee Child
This was a gift to my husband. He had read previous books by this author and wanted this new one. He enjoyed it very much. In fact, he read it in less than 24 hours.

Another great Jack Reacher book
I have never met a Jack Reacher book I didn't love. Past Tense is no exception. Intriguing plot; interesting characters.

Who cares?
Lee Child has turned a corner. Every character in this novel thinks and speaks just like Reacher. There seems to be a single voice throughout. The plot is, of course, silly and unlikely with the usual Reacher fights. I think the formula is wearing thin.

Another great Jack Reacher book.
I'm a Lee Child fan and read all Jack Reacher novels. Past Tense is another novel that I read in one day.

Reacher RULES
I'm totally hooked on Reacher and this one was great reading just like all of the previous episodes! The only downer is now waiting for the next one!
