  • This VXR 4-12x40 Scope by Leupold is the best scope I have ever used bar none.

I had a good scope on my rifle but it just didn't feel right in the field. I was drawn for an elk hunt this year and it was important to me that I had a scope that optimized light and was very clear all the way out to the edges in my field of view. A friend suggested that I consider getting this Leupold Scope. He said it would give me a very clear picture in my field of view. Was he ever right. I zeroed my rifle in with this scope in three shots. I first used a laser bore sighter to get on the paper. I was about 1 inch from center on the first shot. I made a small adjustment and went a bit too far. I then made my final adjustment and changed my target to a new target. The new target had a white dot the size of my finger nail in the center of it. I fired one shot and scored a near perfect hit in the center of the dot. That was at 50 yards and the scope was set for 4 magnification. The next day I took a 10 point buck with one shot at about 100 yards. That made a believer out of me. This scope isn't cheap but when you consider it might be the only scope you will ever need it is sure worth the price. Would I recommend this scope to my friends and family. You bet I would. Oh! I didn't mention that it has a red dot illumination system for low light situations if you need it. That is a nice feature also.

  • Totally bad ass !

This scope is everyrhing I was hoping it would be and then some. It's lighter than expected and is super clear. The adjustments are in gold but hidden under the caps. I like the push button reticle brightness adjustment. I did have a concern about the reticle buying too busy (having too much to look at), but it's nicely laid out and doesnt create any issues with the image of your target. Wish I could add a pic to show you how well this scope goes with my rifle! It's on a black AR with TiN treated barrel, nuts, BCG and LPK. It's total awesomeness.

  • Great Scope!!

Mounted on AR 15 with 24 inch barrel. Took to range and sighted in at 100yds. After fine tuned I placed 20 rounds in a 2 inch circle. Good enough for a 80 year old who goes to the range 4 or 5 times a year.. Scope is very clear at all magnification setting and has held zero for over 200 rounds. Would highly recommend this scope

  • Can't be mounted in same spot for high and low power

First, let me start by saying I love Leupold scopes. Aside from a few Redfield Revolutions and a couple Carl Zeiss Conquests, Leupold is all I buy. Because I trust their quality, I never had any reservation buying a Rifleman, even though it's billed as Leupold's "economy" model or "entry level" model. I've owned three different 3-9x40 Rifleman scopes and never had a complaint, so I wanted to try out the 4-12x40. This scope is typical Leupold quality: tough, well constructed tube, great looks, very clear lenses, etc. The only complaint I have about this scope is the fact that you cannot leave your head in its normal shooting position if you're going from high to low or low to high power. If you mounted it at 4x, you're going to have to reposition your head forward if you increase the power. The opposite is true if you mounted the scope while it was at 12x. Some might be familiar with this issue and may say that it happens with every scope. Well, it doesn't. This isn't going to be a plug for another brand here, but not all 4-12 and greater power scopes have this issue. If this won't be an issue for you, buy with confidence here. It's a high quality Leupold, "even though it's a Rifleman"... A name doesn't bother me. Some have said that a Rifleman is basically a VX-II. Only difference is you can't send it to the custom shop for a new reticle or target turrets because of its tube design. I just had to make this issue known for anyone new to scopes or unfamiliar with this problem. I'm sure there's a technical, scientific name for the phenomenon, but I don't know it. I decided to put this 4-12x40 on a HBAR target model AR. This issue won't affect you much with a range gun, but I won't personally be taking it into the woods or putting it on a defensive rifle. Matt

Was'nt told the parallax is inoperative.Saw a mark on the elevation screw like it was hit by a hammer or dropped right on it.Im keeping it for sure, gonna send it to Leupold for repair.Buyer beware!

  • Leupold 4-12X40

Good dependable rifle scope. For some reason this one is a little harder to turn the focus adjustment. Other than that it's just like my other 4-12X40 Leupold Scopes. Good for the money.
