Still so cool
A creative book by a creative author about creative ideas, I read this as a child and LOVED it. This author is also the illustrator and as far as I can remember, this edition comes complete with ALL of Mr. Du Bois's excellent illustrations. Written in 1947 but still so cool for any child who's a potential inventor or enjoys creativity.

Excellent and Entertaing Fanciful Story
Excellent and entertaining fanciful story. Should be made into a movie. My 6th Grade Teacher read this to our class years ago. I've read it to my own kids. I recommend it to others.

Due to the time period (originally published in 1947) there are virtually no women in the story. But it is an exciting story, one of my favorites from childhood. I do recommend it. The illustrations by the author are charming.

A favorite since the 60s!
My 5th grade teacher read this book to the class in the 60s. I'm now reading it to my grandchildren!
