The four-level grayscale display has plenty of contrast to allow you to discern what is below the surface of the water. The screen has a pixel resolution of 160x128 for clarity. You can hold the Humminbird PiranhaMax finder in your hand or attach it directly to your boat. It comes with a suction mount that allows you to attach it to many non-porous surfaces. The suction can easily be removed when you're done so that you can take your device with you. This easy attachment and removal feature is ideal for those who travel for fishing and may rent boats or fish on boats owned by other people, where a permanent mount is not an option. It is also small enough to attach to a kayak or other small vessel without getting in the way. The device runs on a rechargeable 7AH battery that has a long life to ensure that it doesn't run out of power right when you need it. It also comes with the charger for the included battery.The Humminbird PiranhaMax 160 has a dual beam sonar that works well to find all different types of fish in your area. The sonar has 200/83 kHz (20 degree/60 degree) beams and 800 watts PTP power output, powerful enough to find both large and small fish in various depths. It can sense individual targets that are as little as 2.5 inches apart. The unit works well in both freshwater and saltwater. The depths it can read to will depend on the clarity and conditions of the water, your boat speed, and wave action. The maximum depth capability is 600 feet. When the device locates something, it will give a relative indication of the size of the animal using one of three different size icons. The transducer sends waves into the depths, creating an accurate picture of what is underneath you, including locating potential hazards on the bottom.This Humminbird PiranhaMax device acts as a finder for different sizes and species. You can easily set an alarm that will tell you when the desired fish is found by the finder. The device also has alarms to ensure that you're boating at a safe depth for your vessel.
