Bulky player with vague screen
The screen resolution is too low. The sound quality lacks resolution or refinement, very coarse and explicit. DAC was using Wolfson wm1807 or something. Scroll wheel was engineered by Synaptics instead of Apple themselves as the latter iPods were. Battery without a doubt needs a change after being released for 10 years. The feeling holding in the hand is better than ipod classic. It is well rounded. Now we can see how apple actually ripped people off along the way. They literally marketed this model as exercise model (the arm band, anyone). It was just too heavy for being carried while jogging at 100grams. Minidisc player was way lighter than this.

Useful spares
The one I pod mini worked after charging but may need a new battery and the other needs investigating but that's why I buy them to try and get them working again or as spares to repair others that I have for upgrading. Great purchase.
