Great dependable companion
The FA is probably one of the 'secret' Nikons, the one, few have heard of , they all know the FM and the F but the FA is a very clever camera and often overlooked. It has modes, it has matrix metering and it's darn good too. Don't overlook this camera, no it's not fully manual, it needs batteries, but it has some real pro features that others do not. I really like the FA, I added one to my collection recently in black but I will not hunt for a good silver one too. Great camera

Great buy
Technologically advanced in its day, the FA is today an interesting collector's item, as well as a good workable camera. Some have said that the shutter is unreliable, but the camera I bought on eBay is fine. Nikon FA c/w MD-15 Motor Drive
I bought a Nikon FA 35mm Film Camera new when they first came out in the 1980's. I went over to Digital only a passion for 35mm format still remained. I bought this one advertised due to it having a FA dedicated motor drive at a reasonable price + it had the original Nikon Manual & what's important to me personally is the finger grip which was included when new only so often missing on used cameras probably due to the fact it has to be removed in order to fit the optional motor drive so may get mislaid. When buying a used 35mm Camera I try to find one complete otherwise I wouldn't buy it. The FA I find is a reliable camera with all the features of the FM2, FE2 + other useful features. The metering system was unique when launched & gives excellent results. Neglect often plays a big part in the reliability & creating faults with cameras, forgetting to remove batteries not storing them correctly etc. Rear door seals almost always need to be replaced due to them breaking down with age the mirror buffer also becomes tacky & needs replacing. This one I bought was working exactly as it should, the motor drive was also working perfectly cosmetically it was very good carefully used condition having no dents or scratches just showing signs of light wear in the usual places for a black bodied camera.
