A quick, but ageing, CPU
I bought this to replace an old LGA 775 Core 2 Duo chip. That PC has been relegated to a backup / disaster recovery PC as I built a new one last year using modern components. The old chip still worked, but was significantly slower than the new PC. There is always a concern when buying used electronic components that the item may have been damaged, but all was fine. It was well packed in an anti-static container with adequate protection form physical damage. Replacing the old processor for this one was straightforward, but could be a bit daunting if you've never done it before - research online to see steps required if you are not sure, and don't forget the thermal paste! The system booted up straightaway and was noticeable quicker than before, but obviously not as quick as the new one. Cheap, effective upgrade.
If your ageing PC is struggling with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and the motherboard and BIOS can take it, this upgrade is a no-brainer. Four physical cores give an instant performance boost, giving PCs that might be on the verge of the recycler, a new lease of life.
