Davies speaks candidly of his own childhood experiences, from the spectre of Catholic guilt and the 'dark desires' of homosexuality awakened at professional wrestling matches, to the rapture of seeing Hollywood films and musicals--pain and pleasure the filmmaker has sought to come to terms with his whole adult life. Nostalgia
If you're old enough to remember or you're just interested in how things used to be, this is a good record. Before I flew the nest in my teens & although I was Manchester born & bred, this film could have been there because living conditions for those in the film & for 'us' were exactly as I remember.

Great film
I was in Liverpool for a couple of days yesterday; thought it seems a pretty vibrant city now, with much evidence of a grand past but also hard times in between. The film covered many aspects of the story in a very fond but realistic way.
