The neck on this Ibanez guitar is a Wizard bolt-on, which is great for soloing since it is thin and has a relatively flat radius. The overall thinness of all the pieces combine to give it a sleek, modern look. The styling takes cues from guitars of the 50s, but the parts are all modern.The Ibanez s470 guitar model has three pickups: a humbucker at the bridge (for raw, heavy sounds with tons of treble) and neck (for beautiful clean sounds with more bass) and a single-coil pickup (seen frequently on Fender guitars) in the middle. These provide a wide range of sounds, and the 5-way selector allows them to be combined in various ways. For customization, these pickups can also be swapped very easily for aftermarket parts from makers like DiMarzio. Besides the selector, there are also two knobs on the body; one for volume and one for tone. The tuners are made using a die-cast process.The tremolo on this model is an Ibanez ZR (the ZR stands for zero resistance) with double locking features. This makes the S470 series good for creating vibrato and bending sounds. It's great for doing the dive bomb technique often used in metal solos. A key feature of this trem is that if a string breaks, all of the other strings will still stay in tune. It uses ball bearings rather than a knife edge, which is what was used more commonly in the past. These make the tuning more reliable and stable and also produces a richer, fuller sound. The tuning stability is also increased by the locking nut and stopping bar, which can removed, if desired.The Ibanez s470 guitar pairs well with various types of amps. Ibanez S470QS. easy shred guitar. Light weight with great features
This is my first ibanez S guitar to own. After setting it up with 9-42 strings and adjusting the action and bow of the neck as well as pickup height and angle of the bridge i got the best setup i could out of it. great guitar overall. ultra wide flat neck. 22 fret shredders delight, body weight, well it`s a feather hanging from the shoulders, Ibanez / Floyd designed whammy -- swing away it can handle it, the pick up design is based on the mid-range of the color spectrum -- could always up grade -- it`s a personal choice -- don`t get me wrong the factory magnants still kick ass. Beautiful tones
