Lives up to its great reputation in each and every way possible
This thing is the real-deal! The Tube Driver is one of the most iconic overdrive/distortion pedals out there and it is used by many professionals that are known for good guitar tone - foremost David Gilmour and Eric Johnson. Here, one has the opportunity to obtain an original unit from the creator of the design himself - and it delivers everything that is expected. Build like a tank and filled with great tone. There is sweet spot after sweet spot to be found with that pedal. From the lightest overdrive to the most soaring distortion - it is all there. The overtones are unreal on this pedal. Changing tubes is super easy. For example, with a 12AU7, there is slightly more headroom and slightly less gain (but still plenty of it), but overall, the sound of the pedal is still nearly identical. BK Butler Tube driver with Bias knob, Get that awesome violin tone lead.. Best tube driver I've ever played through!!
The delivery man dropped off my brand new BK Butler Tube driver about 4 hours ago 11 am and I'm still going, 3 pm. I will say the box didn't make me able to play like Eric Johnson but I finally got that violin tone I've been trying to get for a long time now. I have found a couple settings on the BK tube driver that really gives you that awesome violin sounding lead. plus there are many different sounds I'm finding by fooling around with the bias knob and the EQ knobs. amazing Box, worth every penny. THE ONLY OVERDRIVE YOU SHOULD BUY!!!
Well I've been playing guitar since 1982 and I'd like to say I've played with quite a few good musicians over the years, as most if not all guitarists we are always looking for "That sound "! I started purchasing effect pedals from the early 80s and let me tell you I've got an enormous collection 70 + at last count! Why u ask ? Well most of us guitarist also like to read the latest guitar magazine just to see "what's new" or "who's using what"so you do tend to get hooked by the advertising of all these pedals but there is a reason for that! All of the average pedals need to be advertised and you will notice all of the BEST pedals DONT!here it is! I've got every overdrive pedal just about ever made and for years I knew about the bk butler tube driver but never really considered purchasing it and I don't know why? I could of saved thousands of dollars if I only bought the bk butler tube driver first!! B.K. Butler Tube Overdrive - A classic for good reason
We just wrote a review of the Tube Driver with comments from Billy F Gibbons and David Gilmour's tech for decades, Phil Taylor. We are hoping to get some commentary from Eric Johnson soon, who has used Tube Drivers since the '80s. Accept no substitutes! An online search will turn up some old Tube Screamers not built by B.K. Butler, and you don't want those. You want an original Tube Driver that clearly says "built by B.K. Butler. He is still making them today, and you can buy them direct from B.K. Just Google B.K. Butler for contact info in Colorado. This is a magnificent overdrive, pure and very toneful with no noisy artifacts whatsoever. A state of the art overdrive that is capable of moderate to intense distortion that is thick, tasty and clean. There is no trash in this effect at all. Superlative pedal
Firstly a special thanks for Mr BK butler for being extremely helpful answering all my question. The Pedal is incredible, albeit might take a bit of effort to tame. It is totally worth it. Can be used a light boost, OD, distorsion even kind of muff like!! A monster of a pedal. This is the last OD pedal you’ll ever get (unless you get another one from him lol). I’d definitely recommend it for anyone. I would buy another in a heartbeat.

Favourite pedal
I have wanted a B K Butler tube driver for years but second hand prices for battered older pedals was prohibitive. Seeing that the original builder was making this amazing pedal again I bit the bullet and ordered one. I have never been happier with a new pedal . You can just hear the quality of the pedal in the tones that emanate from it. You can understand why tone kings like Eric Johnson and David Gilmore both use these pedals as a cornerstone of their sound . A big thank you. Review For The Original Tube Driver With Bias Adjustment
I really dont like pedals much because most I have tried muddy up the sound. This pedel has a wide range of adjustability without getting muddy and retains real good definition even when pushed hard. The construction of this pedal is very strong. I will close this review with a simple comment and that is I like it a lot and use it everyday. The Best Vintage Overdrive
Thanks B.K. Buttler for this divine pedal that can serve as a booster, light and heavy overdrave, all to the good distortion. Works just as well and with GLP and FST. Amazing pedal as the real ones always have been, but the addition of the bias adjustment takes it to a different level. You can easily week the tone to your preferences in seconds. BK dialed in this design years ago and you cannot make it sound bad. Your tone control on your guitar is now a gain adjustment without losing definition. Wish it was mine!
My twin brother was coveting my BK Butler for a while now, I saw this 5 knob version and told him he should get one. Long story short he ordered it, and had it sent to my house, when it arrived I had to A-B it against my 4 knob version. It has an essence that is just beautiful. I won't be trading mine in, but if I were to do it all over I would get the 5.
