Good starter setup for the price
To preface, I am a hobbyist and don't do soldering projects daily. With that said, this unit does the job you pay your money for. It seems a little slow to heat up, reason for 4 stars, but otherwise it's good to go. I also purchased a variety pack of tips that fit this model as well. The tip that comes with it is fine for general purposes, however, you may need to look into getting the additional tips.

Great bang for the buck
I've only used it once so far but I must say I am very impressed with the quality of this soldering station given how inexpensive it is. When you need more heat, you adjust the temperature and it's there. Very nice product. I really like the variable temperature as well as the interchangeable tips you can purchase separately. Very impressed!

It is an OK small item soldering station
Small and convenient there is a problem with the tip corroding all the time. It requires constant cleaning. The tip that came with the iron is way too small. It would be OK for UN-soldering integrated circuits. Wires to jack and plugs not so much.I replaced my 30 year old soldering station with this one. I miss my old one.

Inexpensive compared to similar Irons
Just got this so time will tell. I needed a variable temp iron and this fit the bill. the base is plastic not metal like my old weller (w/o variable temp). I work primarily on guitars and amps and this works really well. Hi temp for soldering to the back of pots and heavier power supply connections and lower temp for most of the other tasks.

Great value
Over 35 years I've used many soldering stations. Some expensive and some not. Never used one that was under $30 before until I tried this one. For the money it's well made, it does a great job heating. It does decent with desoldering braid and comes with a good iron holder. My only complaint is the station is a little light weight and wants to tip forward. It needs more weight on the back bottom side to stop that. Great station for $20!

solder me up scotty
it is a soldering iron. it gets hot and melts solder. variable temp, nice feature. alot for a very modest price. for the home a good choice.

Soldering Iron
This soldering iron works great so far. It is way better than the pencil style ones that fit directly into the electric wall socket. Which means you can control the temperature and change the tips. For the average person doing the odd repair then this is perfect. If you do a lot of soldering work then I can't say it would be good or bad. For me it works well for the few jobs I have done so far.

Top Notch Soldering Iron
Does what it should, and does it well. Comfortable grip. When heated up, it smokes at first, but after about 15m it stops (at least for me) Handy on/off switch and temperature control. By far the best soldering iron I own. Way better than the cheap blue soldering kits.

Works fine.
Works fine although it is difficult to guess correct temp setting for a particular solder alloy. A simple digital readout would have been a nice addtion.
