Hybrid, needs edge finishing
Heavier than a machete, not really a gladius. Even so, feels substantial in the hand. Has an edge, but not overly sharp. Out of the box, not sharp enough to take down sunflowers, but with some work, it will make a nice tool. Purchased it because the blade is carbon steel, not stainless, which is inferior for knife or sword blades.

They skip the final grind.
Same old Cold Steel machette. They are what they are. However, they now do nothing after they apply their final finish. what ever it is they bake on the machettes. Sadly to speed things up and cheapen the process a bit. They no longer do a final grind afterwards to put a finished edge on the blade. Not the sellers problem. but Cold Steel should give folks a heads up.

Now made in China not South Africa
Blade now made in China not South Africa like before for what that's worth. Otherwise the blade came sharp looks like the old one. Hopefully just as good. Time will tell.

Light, well balanced, perfect for close up combat, in a hall way or alley.
I love my new Gladius Macheti. It is so light, well balanced and is perfect for any sort of close up work, in a hall way, an aley, etc. In fact it should not be named Macheti. To me it is a perfect modern made Gladius. I love the handle too. It is very durable material and just right for big hands, non slip surface so no prob with sweaty hands. i wish y sabre handles were made of this.

Zombie killer and weed killer gladiator style.
Wow what a well balanced sword....I mean machete. When you swing it it sings! True sign of proper temperament. Cuts so fine as well. I highly recommend it.for the price you shouldn't get any other machete for your garden or zombie apocalypse needs

Good Balance And Sturdy
Seems like it would be capable of chopping through brush. Decent balance and by the looks of it good steel. It will make a excellent addition to my collection.

Durable, effective, and cheap.
These swords are extremely cheap and practical. They are very durable, good for yard chores, camping, home defense, or survival prepping. I have two. You should buy five.

Not As Advertised
Received the Cold Steel Gladius this afternoon. My excitement soon turned sour. Edge is dull and covered in that black protection.... absolutely no edge. The edge does not go the tip. Instead the last inch on each side is squared off with it coming to a pathetic, dull square point. Looks like I have a lot of work to do to get it to what it was advertised to be. Not happy.
