  • Great Wireless Network Extender if Using an Airport Extreme or Time Capsule as your Main Router

If you are using an apple time capsule as your wireless router base station these work perfectly to extend the wifi range either wirelessly or via wired connection. Was able to extend the network in my house wirelessly within literally 5 minutes of plugging it in and utilizing apple's airport utility on my mac. You can also monitor who is connected to your network from your iphone with the airport utility app downloaded. I have a wired connection of roughly 300-400 mbps, so these wireless routers and range extenders, although a bit older do not hinder speed. If you have true gig speed internet from a wired connection I would maybe look at a newer router because of speeds. But these work fine and provide a very stabile and trouble free wireless solution for my house.

  • Airport Express extending Time Capsule Extreme

Took about two minute to set up the Apple Airport Express to extend my wireless network (Apple AirPort Extreme Time Capsule). Works amazingly! I was previously using another brand mid-range extender and it just wasn't cutting it. Now I have 100+Mbps throughout my entire house. I also hooked up an old quality PC sound system to it, that had been sitting in a closet for a few years. I can now airplay my music through those speakers for some amazing sound that goes throughout the house! Extremely pleased with the Apple Airport Express, and highly recommend it!

  • Nice compact dual band N router

This is pretty decent rather compact dual band N router. The router is pretty easy to manage with the Windows, Macintosh and iPhone apps. It pretty much does what you would expect from a router and painlessly forms mesh networks with other Apple routers, even different Apple models. A neat feature is the airplay jack that allows Windows/Macs running iTunes to stream audio to speakers plugged into the router. I also like that the router uses a standard power cord, not an obnoxious dongle. This router is a discontinued product but it has received some firmware updates in 2019.

  • Expanding your home network

Apple AirPort Express Base Station Wireless Router is a good and inexpensive way to expand your network's reach within your home, especially if you already are using an AirPort Extreme (abbrev. Extreme) primary LAN (local area network) router. First, locate the AirPort Express (Express) physically where you think it will do the most good--e.g., the other end of the house yet within signal range of your primary router. Any wireless router should be place high up near the ceiling of the room in which it is located in order to obtain the greatest signal range. Next, plug in the Express and return to your Mac computer, where you will find and open the AirPort Utility app. The app will almost immediately find the Express and ask whether you want to add it as a bridge router to your present network. Answer 'yes' and the connection is made. The Express will repeat synchronously the data signals received from the Extreme and transmitted by users on your LAN. Adding an AirPort Express will not increase the speed of your network, since it is limited by the speed of data transferred through the Extreme. However, you should find that you have full signal strength available for wireless devices throughout the house now, especially in areas where before signals were weak, intermittent, or non-existent. The price of an AirPort Express is inexpensive compared to the benefits it offers, and for Mac users, it could not be easier to set up and use. I strongly recommend this approach to extending the range and strength of your LAN.

  • Airport Express for the whole house music win

If you are a music person more than a movie person, and you have both Apple and Windows PC products ... this is your solution. iTunes for PC does not (pause) play well (dropout) with Apple TV. And Apple TVs don’t work well without, well, TVs. iTunes on your PC for music, however, works reliably, amazingly well with these Airport Express boxes which can be hooked up to whatever speakers or stereo you like (analog or Digital Optical). And that iTunes on your PC/Airport Express solution is a fraction of the cost of SONOS or other whole house music systems. As a bonus you can also use the Airport Express to create or extend a wireless network or add a network printer via USB—but I just love them for music in every room.

  • Oldie but still good

Yes this is an old product. Yes it is only “N” speed. But it is super easy to set up and manage using Apple’s software. I have multiple access points and I use this one in the guest room where coverage is slow. Just place it, power and network and then configure remotely using Airport Utility. I am NOT using this as a router just as a Access Point. My iPhone iPad and iMacs connect every time with no issues. So, this is still a good reliable and inexpensive way to extend your WiFi network

  • Apple Airport Express

This was a remanufactured Apple wireless router that works perfectly and looks like new. I using it as an extender to my home network that is fed by an Airport Extreme Router. Apple is known for their easy interface to their routers and this Airport Express is no exception. I use the Express to provide a wired drop to a weather station bridge and to provide an extended network in the rear and outside my home. Unfortunately Apple has exited the marketing and production of the Airport Extreme and Express router. It's the best routers I have ever used and their simplicity and power are above reproach. I highly recommend this product although buy used or remanufactured equipment does carry some risk.

  • Great audio add-on for Apple ecosystem

When I selected the "Extend Existing WiFi Network" option to connect wirelessly to my generic WiFi router, the connection wasn't reliable. I also got a flashing yellow warning light. When I connected to the network via wired Ethernet, everything was fine. In an all-WiFi system the AirPort Express is very picky about what kind of WiFi router you're using. I suspect if I was using an AirPort router this wouldn't be an issue. If you can connect the AirPort Express via cable this isn't a concern.

  • Product is good - support sucks

Bought the AirPort Express to extend the wireless network of my AirPort Extreme through an Ethernet connection between the two. Following Apple's set-up recommendations, my network would crash every time that I connected the Ethernet cable to the AirPort Express. After 1 Chat session, 2 trips to the Apple Genius Bar and a warranty replacement unit, I still had the same problem. Finally tried a Non-Apple search and found a URL that I'm not allowed to include here. This configured things differently than Apple recommended and different form the way that the Apple AirPort Utility configured things, but worked great. My system is up and running and is a joy to use, but Apple support is useless because they are operating on training based on 5-6 year old documentation so can't solve current problems.

  • Beefy router in a small package

I bought two of these to extend my network throughout the house I live in. It's killer on signal because of the masonry shell, but these routers seem to overcome the obstacles fairly well. They pair seamlessly with my AirPort Extreme router that Apple also makes, and I haven't noticed much signal drop, or speed drop. If you're thinking about buying one, pull the trigger and do it.
