A first rate commercial grade rugged scanner
I'd used the lower resolution variant of this scanner (the GT-20000, 600 dpi max) for many years. This 10000XL looks identical, and uses the same generally excellent Epson-Scan software (tho with more scanning resolution and color and gray scale depth options). Performance is excellent, tho it appears to me this scanner is slightly slower in doing operations at the same settings as those done by the GT-20000. For some reason (under Win 7 pro on a Dell XPS 8300 desktop with 16 GB of main memory) this scanner will refuse to scan documents much bigger than 5 x 7 inches at 2400 dpi, despite being rated at max of 2400 dpi. But it does 1200 dpi just fine for its full 12 x 18 inch scanning area. Albeit quite slowly if scanning gray scale or color. This scanner offers up thru 2400 dpi (at least on smaller subjects) and 8 and 16 bit gray scale and 24 and 48 bit color scanning, as well as "bi-tonal" (single bit BW) scanning. Over all I am very pleased with it, tho I wish it was a bit faster in its scans. The Epson-scan software, despite some flaws, is generally excellent, and in particular offers a "dropout" or "enhance" color function in gray and BW scanning that is extremely valuable (when set to red-dropout) for scanning brown and stained documents, allowing one to get very nice clean solid black text on pure white background without noise and artifact and without need for post processing. Note that this 10000XL and the GT-20000 I refer to above are no longer made, and are replaced by the 11000XL and by the DS-50000, respectively. These have the exact same resolution and color / gray depth ratings and scanning area as the models they replace, but feature a LED light bar, instead of the plasma arc lamp used in the earlier models.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht
