Great Remote.
I don't know what happened to these affordable easy-to-use Learning Remotes. Nowadays, to get a remote with a learning Infrared function requires spending nearly $100 for a Logitech PC-Required USB Remote with superfluous LCD Screen and all that. It's almost as if the manufacturers thought they let us off too cheaply in the past. This Sony Remote is sturdy and simple and easy to program. Great universal/programmable remote
This remote model has been around for awhile. I had my first for 15 years and it worked flawlessly. It finally just wore out from constant use, the buttons got slow to react, and finally one just stopped working (exit/return button) which was a game ender. This remote allows you to control any device. The pre-programmed devices are extensive, but I don't know if they are current. Not sure this is still in production so the codes may be a bit dated. But...you can manually program any command or button so this is can operate any current device. I have combined my AV receiver, Flat Screen TV, DirecTV box, and yes even some "old-school" stuff like DVD & CD players:) All in a single remote that I can do anything with that I could do with the original remotes. Detailed system & menu modifications on the AV Receiver still requires the factory remote, but that is rarely needed. The only thing I (maybe) wish it had was back-lighting, but really it is so simple to use, once you get it setup, you don't need to back-lighting...it has never been a problem, so I don't know why I mentioned it. My Favorite Remote.
I have gone through 3 of these remotes now. I still love them. The silver color makes it easy to find over those little black ones that disappear every time you turn around. It works great with my all Sony Entertainment System. They take a beating, a 2 year old, a ten year old, a clumsy wife, a cat (more destructive than one may think), and few throws from me. They take hundreds of drops and keep working. The emitter cover dose disappear after the first few drops but dose not affect performance. There are online instructions for programming. GREAT LEARNING FUNCTION
The codes basically didn't work with most of my components,because the codes were outdated. But the learning function more than made up for that. It "learns" well, and it's easy to "unlearn" specific commands.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

Using for years
Just got another one used. Use the learning mode exclusively to combine DTV, sound bar and stereo. BUT, caution - The unit does not learn my Samsung Ultra HD Smart TV. Very versatile control for several devices.
In some cases a device has a button already shut off as unneeded for the device. That button might be freed by erasing it as "erase" is described in the instructions. Which makes it available to program with a function. Buttons which perform functions not needed can also be erased. The multi-step programmable keys are quite useful.
