Product Information

Fans of the Inuyasha television series can continue the saga on PlayStation 2 in Inuyasha: The Secret of the Cursed Mask. This role-playing game lets players experience the Japanese feudal era. They can build relationships by relating to beloved characters from the TV show. They can also play as special characters created by the developer Bandai specifically for the video games.Inuyasha is a manga and anime series that centers on a fairy tale set in medieval Japan. A girl from modern Japan, Kaname Kururugi, gets transported back to the Sengoku period. There, she fights demons and makes new friends. She also has to go on a quest to find pieces of a jewel that are scattered around the country. This PlayStation video game follows a similar storyline to the TV show. It begins with you playing as either a teenage boy, Michiru Kururugi; or a teenage girl, Kaname Kururugi. Their family runs a shrine, and the character finds a strange symbol that takes you to a feudal Japanese village. The villagers believe you are a demon and attack, so you have to run. Then, you encounter a real demon and defeat it using Shikigami abilities. It is at this point that a character from the TV show joins the PS2 game. Inuyasha, a half human and half dog-demon, sees your player fight and takes you to Kagome Higurashi. While enjoying Secret of the Cursed Mask, you will meet the entire cast of the TV show. This includes Miroku, Sango, Shippo, and Sesshomaru. Sango and the other characters work together to fight Naraku, the main demon opponent from the TV show. Other demons will attack your party while you play. Some of these also have ties to the TV shows, and some are original. The Inuyasha: Secret of the Cursed Mask game also has some unique features. For one thing, it includes around 30 minutes of anime videos. This game also introduces Utsugi, an ally of Naraku that the team members have to battle. There are also different storyline possibilities. Choosing Michiru Kururugi as your player character will open different story choices than choosing Kaname Kururugi, and vice versa. While traveling with Inuyasha, Kagome, and the other team members, you can choose to enter into a relationship with one of them. You will also attack different enemies, including Naraku, using unique abilities. With the different storylines, you'll enjoy several possibilities for paths. Many fans will want to play every storyline. The Secret of the Cursed Mask begins in a quiet village, but it leads to intense combat situations. Because of this content, this Inuyasha PlayStation 2 game is rated T for Teen, which means it is recommended for children 13 and older. This video game will allow you to enjoy gameplay with your friends. You can take turns playing this action genre game.Journey through the world of Inuyasha, and enjoy the extra videos provided by Bandai. Save the village, and fight alongside fan favorites like Sango and Miroku.

  • Great RPG for Inuyasha fans

I like the fact that I can roam freely around the Inuyasha universe, explore places seen in the series and interact with other characters and get something new to do. Even though the series move on like this game never existed, this game is still a refreshing break from the series. I wish that the areas you can explore would've been more vastly build though. I'm still in the process of completing the game but so far I've liked it. The liking towards the game coming to existence can be a bit slow but give it some time, it'll come eventually as you get used to the game mechanisms. Also, the "dating simulation" is kinda fun, some actions and decisions affect your relationships between other characters making them to like you more. I haven't researched what this means in practice but I'd assume some dialogues/scenes change and that it affects the behavior in battles. You get to visit new places and explore the ones you've already seen. Your quest is to find a way to get home. The battling system reminds me a lot of Grandia's battle system, your agility determines the battle order and some characters just seem to be getting lot of turns (like Shippo). You may want to form a some sort of tactic how to battle your battles if you want to save on the healing items. I don't think the difficulty level of the game is above average, I'd say it is average at tops. After playing ps3 games, the battle pace and scouting the area feels quite slow and the graphics can be an eye sore. The environments are bright colored and keep things together nicely even though they can look a bit rough. You need to remember that this is a ps2 game, so go easy on it. I'm amused by the fact that Kagome's and Kaname's battle poses are made out of the same mold so no imagination used there lol. If you've watched the series w Eng dubs, you'll be positively surprised as the voice actors seem to be same as in the anime series (I watched mainly Japan dubbed so can't be 100% certain that ALL characters have the same voice actors). Kaname's voice actor (other main protagonist) is not as good but rather tad annoying to my taste as well as Shippo's. I think this game is great addition to any RPG and Inuyasha - lover's collection. Just remember, this game needs a little love and time and despite the fact that some annoying and poorly made dialogues (also the ones in battle; some things just sound as interesting as mildew's life story narrated by Donald Trump and are as funny as an ice cube in your pants) chaps my hide occasionally, I still think this is a good game. Not the best RPG, but still a good one worthy of your time.

  • Good game

The game is in great condition. The only problem I had, is when I first opened it, the game was not fastened down, and scratches were seen on disk. I still have completed the game but so far so good.
