Great Entertainment!
Great story...a classic. The production and the interpretation of the original Jane Austen novel are very nicely done. The only reason that it did not receive 5 stars is that it is a DVD and not a Blu-ray. A Blu-ray picture quality would have been phenomenal and the colors quite vibrant. I compare it to another BBC production of a Jane Austen novel, Pride and Prejudice, which was also released in a Blu-ray and you can see the difference. There is a Blu-ray version of Persuasion with Alice Krige, but it is an import from Spain, and therefore, no English subtitles (only Spanish subtitles). I have not seen that version so I cannot comment about the picture quality of the Blu-ray disc.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

About equal to the Amanda Root Version. Very good.
This adaptation of Persuastion with SallyHawkings is as good or better than the BBC one with Amanda Roots. Both were excellent. I thought Rupert Penry-Jones was excellent as Captain Wentworth. The staging seems more intense in the Hawkings version.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

Wonderful Acting!
I have an older version of Persuasion that I enjoyed-but this version is far better. The actors were so enthralled with each other! I loved the actors that played Anne Elliot and Capt. A love story indeed but be prepared!
We really enjoyed this movie. What a different time this was where the upper class were so openly disdainful of those below them. The characters were played so convincingly that after watching it for the first time, I didn't like them because of their shallowness. There is romance and innocence but it didn't feel like it was the focus of this story as in other Jane Austen's stories. Well done!Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

Captivating

A Great Movie
I had this movie dvr'd but from a broadcast channel so I had to skip the commercials. Now I have the COMPLETE movie, including those few minutes that are not aired on TV, which are vital to understanding these characters. Wonderful Period Movie!
Who doesn't like Jane Austen. I have two 'Persuasion' movies. Both are excellent, but this is my favorite. The female leads thoughts are given words to. It fills in many blanks if you have not read the book. Jane Austen is timeless and so is this movie. The actors are excellent.
