Great EDC Knive
The knife is extremely sharp out of the box. The knife is very well balanced and the contour of the handle fits your hand well,blade functions perfectly locks tight ,the Spyderco trademark "hole " aids in opening and controling the nicely curved blade that makes this knife very useful for edc and defensive use. The only recommendation I would give is the knife needs 4 way pocket clip to allow for personal choice in carry preferance. The Cutting Demon of Knives!!
I had 2 Civilians but they were unfortunately stolen from my home. I liked the knife so much that I decided to add it back to my knife collection. At one time Spyderco offered smooth and serrated blades back in the 90's I believe. This is a light in the hand and you are able to move it quite well. The blade is the thing that makes this knife stand out from all other knives. It has a dramatic curve and hook at the tip. It is an amazing self defense knife if you use it correctly. The handle is black matte in color and it can deploy rapidly when needed for whatever situation you find yourself in. Spyderco has kept this knife in their lineup for over 20 years which should tell you how good the design is for its customers. I wish that the blade would be made in Cruwear, or M390, or M3, or some other super steel that would really bring it to the forefront in 2024. This might eventually happen. I personally think this is a must knife for self defense, knife collectors, and martial art students.Just looking at the knife when it is drawn open is enough intimidation to send the bad guys running in the opposite direction.
