The Onkyo TX-SR705 is a home theater AV receiver with the capabilities to process 1080p video and high-resolution audio. The Onkyo receiver also has Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD decoding. These features optimize the display when you are playing your international Blu-ray and DVD movies. It is also outfitted with THX Select2 certification. This certification optimizes your listening and viewing experience when you are seated about 10 to 12 feet away from the speaker. This system's speaker provides 12.5 amperes of peak current for its front channels and 6.2 amperes for its surround speaker units.The output connections on this product include front, center, and surround speaker. It also has output for DTS, IR, antenna, and monitor. It has three HDMI input ports for connecting Blu-rays and HD DVD players, satellite boxes, and DSL cable service. Its other input options include DVI connection and component video connections. With the component video, you can use S-Video and composite input sources. Its built-in deinterlacing chip with Faroudja DCDi Edge easily converts HDTV images.The manual setup of these accessories is simple. The gear comes with a detailed instructional book on how to connect electric accessories such as your amplifier and surround-sound speakers. The receiver unit also comes with a remote control. Great receiver
The SR705 was one of the best receivers Onkyo has made (IMO). Extremely adjustable, great sound and power, wide array of inputs, phono amp, multiple (assignable) optical audio inputs, pure audio mode, powered Zone 2, THX. Quite a lot of features that hold up many years later. The only negatives (or potential improvements) deal with the the Zone 2 feature. First, Zone 2 only works with analog sources (this is true for all Onkyo receivers) so that can be somewhat limiting. Second, if you use Zone 2, as I do, for an extended area in a larger room, there is a slight time delay between the main speaker output and the Zone 2 so you get an echo effect in the room. For music this is not really noticeable, but for spoken content (radio commercials) it's like being in a large stadium. Great Stereo!
Great sounding stereo and great features! Onkyo made this receiver at the perfect time with the right features. It’s old enough to be heavy, have a phono port, but it also has HDMI too! Onkyo TX-SR705 works like new!
This has replaced my old one which started triggering the over protective circuitry. It is a dream to have this one working like the old one had for years. I set it up like it was new and it has been working great ever since. It arrived with an inspection paper which caused me to feel comfortable about the receiver.
