A classic, high end DVD player
This was the follow up to Sony’s DVP-S7000 reference player in 1997. Though it came out in 1999, the S7700 didn’t support progressive scan. But the picture quality at 480i is still really impressive, with great contrast, clarity and accurate color. The front mechism for the loading tray is really cool. The chassis is copper, and this is a very solid, heavy unit that was made to last. Dead silent. I can’t hear any sounds from this thing at all. The front panel has cool touch sensitive controls that remind me of the original PS3, and makes the same beep when you touch them.
