Jarod (Michael T. Weiss) is a young man with a special talent: he has the power to become anything he wants at any time, be it a doctor, sailor, musician, or scientist. Jarod was abducted when he was but a mere child genius by a mysterious organization known only as the Centre, and his talents were carefully honed, transforming him into the veritable shape-shifter he is today. But when Jarod learns that the simulations he created for the Centre are not used for good alone, but sold to the highest bidder for purposes benign or otherwise, he runs away, and sets out to find his long-lost family. Loath to lose such a heavy investment, the Centre dispatches Sydney (Patrick Bauchau, SECRETARY)--who had served as Jarod's father figure and knew him better than anyone--to bring him back. Sydney is aided by Miss Parker (Andrea Parker, LESS THAN PERFECT), the serious-minded daughter of the Center's head honcho, and Broots (Jon Gries, NORTHFORK), a high-strung computer genius. Each episode takes place in a different town, as Jarod tries to right the wrongs he encounters by using his special abilities, while evading his pursuers who are ever close behind. A very exciting dvd series. I highly recommend!
I have had the complete set of the PRETENDER for years. Every few years I watch them. It is a really great series. I had bought the set for my brother because he loved it, too. Then, I loaned by set to my grandson, and he is really "in to it", too, so I bought the entire set for him also. Classic Timeless Series
Classic Timeless Series but is way overpriced due to an ongoing lack of current production, distribution and availability of new copies. My biggest.complaint is the pathetic use of Double Sided DVD's which are nearly impossible to safely handle and use. I have had so many problems with them and had to buy two extra sets to finally get one of the seasons to work properly. The costs of one sided DVD's, compared to using double sided disc's, is insignificant. Trying to juggle these fragile discs is beyond the limits of frustration! Awesome Show
I watched this show years ago on dvd at a friends house but never purchased my own copy. I forgot about the show until I stumbled across it here. I’m very happy I purchased this show. Excellent product for fans everywhere!

Pretender Series
I had never watched this series when on television but after watching it on Hulu, I had to have. The story of Jarod's abduction & his search for his family while continually avoiding recapture is entertaining & inspiring while he helps others get justice as he continues his search.
