Shirley Jackson's classic still stands tall
Classic horror. Subtle, slow building psychological drama with a surprise ending. More character development than paranormal, but good
It is huge on character development, unlike any more modern novel, but it is very well done. I'm 1/3 through the haunted house novel and the character has just now arrived at Hill House. A great idea but not for me.

Unbeatable Jackson Book
Shirley Jackson was a Master writer of novels that were the best of this genre, fulfilling the need for strong plots, beautifully developed characters, and building the suspense to the climax, all done with superb craftmanship that is true of all of Jackson's literature.
