Righteous heroes are sent to hell and -- hopefully -- back again, in Hellgate: London, a combat-heavy game with deep, RPG-style character development. From a perspective more common to 3D shooters, players guide supernatural savants and modern-day Knights Templar to battle against an eruption of demons into our realm, using swords, summoning, and spiritual fortitude, in the hope of keeping one small corner of Earth a safe shelter for humanity's continued existence.<br><br>In the year 2020, the forces of hell launched an invasion into our world, intent on claiming it for their own. They were successful. By 2025, London is a wasteland of broken buildings and lifeless landscape. Dubbed "the burn" by survivors, the devastation of the city is part of the demons plan to literally create hell on Earth. Some hope to stop the devastation by awakening the power of an ancient artifact called "the sigil." Others seek to harness the great power of the demons for their own purposes, instead of eliminating the threat outright.<br><br>Hellgate: London is the first release from Flagship Studios, which was founded by former Blizzard North developers who worked on the landmark PC game, Diablo. Beyond the demonic themes, subterranean settings, and fast-paced action-RPG style, Hellgate benefits from other Diablo standards, such as randomly generated levels and online multiplayer adventuring through dynamically scaling instances.

London 2038 (multiplayer) is more fun than the butchered, *single-player-only* "official" version.
Hellgate was resurrected by heroes running a private server. "London 2038" is what they call it. Multiplayer with the original game. They have been working for several years to rebalance some underwhelming builds. (For example they made "grenaders" a viable class for most of the game.)

Original game in great condition
Original disc in great condition. Installed and played flawlessly. Found a pretty big community running a fan-made private server that offers original gameplay content and experience. Check out london2038.com.

Great game that you can play single player
I have played this game before when it came out. I couldn't find my copy so I ordered this and it is just as good as I remember!

needed a key
Had a copy, but no key. Haven't played in years. I put the disk in and it installed right away. Enjoying being able to play again.

Awesome
Great game. Most fun I've had playing a shooter. Great story and lots of missions and things to kill. I highly recommend this game.
