Reviews3.5 stars out of 5 -- "It's a confident, intelligent, brazen pop statement, mixing bubblegum diva vocals with EDM break beats.", "On MY EVERYTHING, Grande ditches the manic-Disney-dream-girl ballads and goes straight for the bangers….It’s refreshingly grown-up.", "Grande Has Proven That Her Fizzy Pop-R&B Sound Can Get Our Hearts Soaring..."
Additional InformationThe diva largely cedes the spotlight to her producers and guest rappers on this appealing sophomore set.
This is Ariana Grande's second album, My Everything. Filled with fan favourites and features, shows a more mature Ariana at her departure from Nickelodeon, but it unfortunately lacks structure and doesn't flow as easily as her other albums. Sonically the album feels very much part of the trends of the time it was released but struggles to feel like one body of work and would have benefitted from a good polishing rather than being rushed out the door. That being said, 'Love Me Harder' ft. TheWeeknd really stands out and really pushed Ariana into mainstream pop classics (a collaboration that would later be revived in her latest album 'Positions'). All in all, if you ignore 'Hands On Me' ft. A$AP Ferg, this album is a decent follow-up from Yours Truly, but truthfully deserved better.
