These on a Les Paul.
Replacing original tuners on a mid 2000's Les Paul. The Gotoh Tuners are a very close replica to the original items. Each tuner is 2 grammes lighter then the original, totalling a weight reduction of 12g. This seems to have increased resonance at the headstock The tuners are not easy to fit, You need to use the supplied bushes as they are not quite the same as the originals, this means driving the old bushes out with a hammer! Not a job for those without good tools an knowhow - take it to a luthier. Once fitted, the tuners look identical except for a lower post height, you don't need string wraps so the strings just secure in the tuners, as if you had wrapped the perfect string post. The good - all your strings know have the exact same angle over the Nut, this creates more consistent tension on all strings and very much increase the overall volume and resonance of the guitar. I was really very surprised how improved the tone is. The bad, or at least tricky thing is that the strings are now at an angle more prone to sticking on the nut, causing all sorts of tuning stability issues! This can be solved by using some nut lube, or in my case, some graphite from a pencil and a tiny amount of coconut oil. Fully lubed and once the new strings had settled in, the heads have been fantastic, easy to tune and the guitar tuning generally stable even under extreme blues bends. So in summary, i fitted them to make tuning easier and more stable, this is mostly what happened but the best bit is the way the guitar sounds and plays. And the total ease of string changes of course. Highly recommended but factor in luthier to change them.

Straight replacement for vintage style tuners.
An excellent set of locking tuners, with 8.8mm bushings. These were an easy fit on my Bernie Marsden SE and replaced the vintage style original machineheads, and I used the original bushings (though they're supplied with the a tool to fit them and mounting screws). Mine were identical so that was fine, although it's recommended the supplied ones are fitted. Easy to restring, tightening the tuner locks the string. They preserve the vintage look with keystone buttons and lined covers. Recommended.
