A thoroughly enjoyable excursion into the 1970's world of Elvis Costello & The Attractions, highly recommended
The Edsel/Demon Records 2CD version of this classic Costello release showcases the emerging talents of the main man & his band.
The remastering is superb and delivers the main album just as I remembered the vinyl, back in the day.
All the classics are there, "Oliver's Army", the fantastic "Accidents Will Happen", "(What's So Funny'Bout) Peace Love & Understanding", but also some forgotten gems like "Green Shirt" & "Chemistry Class".
However, a superb addition to the main album is the bonus disc, which gives us some B sides from singles, alternative versions & live tracks, featuring some raw & stripped back songs from the album & classics such as "Alison", Watching The Detectives" & Mystery Dance.
A comprehensive booklet completes the package, providing lyrics & the insightful musings of Elvis Costello himself in what some might say a bit of a risqué subject matter in these ultra-sensitive times.
