Buy it and judge for yourself.
I bought this at the same time as purchasing the screen version. The critics certainly condemned that version but I remembered it with considerable pleasure. These critics showered praise on this Gershwin version so I simply had to buy it. Very pleased I did. I still hold a degree of fondness for the screen version but you must enjoy the pleasure of watching both and making up your own mind. The storyline and music should move the hardest of hearts to tears. A truly wonderful experience.
