He finds himself running for his life, however, when he unwittingly becomes entangled in an espionage plot involving fierce Nazi fugitive Szell (Sir Laurence Olivier). Watch for--or avoid--the infamous torture sequence orchestrated by the sadistic Szell. Reunited with director John Schlesinger (MIDNIGHT COWBOY), Hoffman gives a powerful performance alongside Olivier and Roy Scheider. The screenplay is by William Goldman, based on his own novel.

REFRESHING TO VIEW A FILM NOWADAYS, THAT HAS A GOOD PLOT AND IS UTTERLY BELIEVABLE. APPROX 2 HOURS LONG BUT DOES NOT FEEL LIKE IT. ALSO THE VOLUME AND QUALITY OF SOUND IS EXCELLENT. THE CLARITY OF THE FILM IS SUPERB, THE TOTAL OPPOSITE OF TODAYS NORM.
