An excellent Christmas stocking filler.
Without a shadow of a doubt, this is the definitive film version of what is arguably Jane Austen's most famous novel. Quite apart from the storyline, which keeps you hooked in its own right, the choice of Colin Firth as the brooding and sultry Mr Darcy was an inspired bit of casting. The female lead, Jennifer Ehle, took a while to convince me that she was a good choice to play Elizabeth, but looking back on it, I think I was just more impressed by Susannah Harker as Jane. (She played the somewhat naive journalist in the original "House of Cards", by the way. Haven't seen it? Get it!) The location shooting is ultra-picturesque (but then, as a Derbyshire man I confess to being a tad biased) and the overall effect of this is just a sumptuous feast for the eyes, ears and mind. If you've never read the book, rest assured this adaptation stays very faithful to the original, but it doesn't depend on having read it to afford you such enjoyment. Buy it for everyone you can think of - it would be an excellent Christmas stocking filler.

Fantastic value for money
We have watched pride and prejudice over the years but after it left the bbc i player I think it was on Netflix then uk tv play. We went to watch it again and it had been taken off so decided to buy the dvd so we can watch it as many times as we like

This is an exceptionally good video.
The story is an exceptionally good romantic one that has gripped people all over the world yet also has many humourous incidents also. At the low price paid I bought 7 copies for sending to family and friends. The BBC play is excellent and very close to the original book.

Excellent!
After watching the more recent film version and being disappointed - I wanted to give the BBC Drama a go. Being much longer in duration I feel it's been able to capture far more of the period, the emotions and the subtleties found in the book. Excellent entertainment and superb value.

Pride and Prejudice
I really enjoyed this. Excellent acting and the extended time gave a chance for the characters to develop. True to the book and the best film version I have seen. I saw it on TV years ago and enjoyed it just as much on this viewing.

Love it!
The item's condition is ao great that looks like new. I love that version of pride and prejudice as it explains much more and you can understand the bond between the characters better. If you are that kind of film lover, would definitely recommend this version.

It’s a great production of a classic novel. This would have justified a 5 star rating. This particular disc set was of poor colour quality with a tendency of one of the discs to stall.

The best adaptation of classic tale
The classic story that Austen fans (and others, like my family and me) love. Beautifully adapted, filmed and acted. Bought the DVD to replace our VHS copy.
