When a wacko mental patient named John Barrie escapes from an asylum, Inspector Morse is hot on his trail. The catch is that Barrie is a man of a thousand faces; literally, a master of disguise. Soon, Barrie engages in a battle of wits with Morse, and things heat up when the local police organize a manhunt.
