This film adaptation of GREASE is the zippy smash hit translation from the Broadway musical tribute to the fabulous 1950s. As a new school year begins, wholesome Australian exchange student Sandy (pop star Olivia Newton-John) and duck-tailed, leather-jacketed Danny (John Travolta) parlay their summertime romance into an on-and-off attraction that may or may not cross clique lines. Sandy seriously cramps Danny's style, so he dumps her. In response, Sandy begins dating a wholesome athlete, but, as a hedge, she also joins the gum-chewin', tough-talkin' clique known as the Pink Ladies. Happy, deep, feeling good tapping my toes, chuckling and even getting sweetly misty! I see why Grease pleases!
Unlike most people, I had never seen “Grease” before, and given its near-legendary status, when I saw this great deal on eBay, I went for it! Glad I did. It arrived promptly and in great shape. The movie itself was delightful with unexpected depth in the form of Betty Rizzo and her lovely song which really made the film for me. The rest of the cast was excellent, and this boomer was happy to see the great Eve Arden doing a memorable turn as the principle and other older characters showing us they still “had it”. Title would not have made me purchase it but advertisement did.

American Graffitii wannabe
Everything was ok until the end. Sandy turning into the character that she did was disappointing. The outfit seemed more in keeping with disco than the 1960's. Ms. Newton-John, overall was good. Wasn't a fan of Travolta ever since "Welcome Back Kotter". The crash scene too close to "American Graffiti".
