Heartwarming story
This has been one of my favorite movies ever since my first trip to England so many years ago. If you are a lover of books and an anglophile, then this story is for you. The employees at this little book shop on Charing Cross road are so very appealing that you want them as your friends and you so want them to get to meet the "crazy" American lady who has been ordering rare antiquarian books from that little shop for so many years. Frank Doel is the chief clerk there (Anthony Hopkins) and he is the one through whom the orders for the rare books are placed and an innocent but poignant relationship develops. It is a slow moving story but one you will relish and one that will linger in your heart.

The title is perfect for the story.
This movie is very entertaining and the actors were very believable in their roles. The movie is based on a true story and is told well. While it may not be a movie for a single guy it will be a great evening with your wife or girlfriend. The condition of the DVD was superb and the only difference between this DVD and a new one was the price. I recommend this movie to everyone

It follows the book taking you there
First and foremost, the story is absolutely delightful showing how correspondence deeply connects people, building rich relationships touched by compassion and humor. I appreciate how closely it followed the book rather than taking a license to adapt it differently. Secondly, the cast was fantastic. What a treat to see them in these roles when they were much younger.

Amazing film for book lovers!
A truly memorable and heartfelt film, Anne Bancroft is amazing in the lead role. Anyone who loves books and culture and England will be super-psyched about this classic movie!

sweet simple story
Love Anne Bancroft. This movie unfolds slowly and probably would not be very engaging to the new fast paced generation. I am older and I love the way the characters slowly develop. Each is quirky and interesting. The story is simplistic. It basically shows how many lives one person can touch if they are open and caring.

Only a Postage Stamp away.
The connection between Helene and the employees of Marks & Co. was much more than a business relationship. They all became true friends. Even though the Atlantic Ocean kept them apart they were not separated from each other in their 20 plus year relationship. The rest of us should only be as fortunate with our closest friends.

Enjoyable characters!
I first saw this movie on television not too long ago and truly enjoyed it. I was so happy to find this dvd so I can now watch it whenever I want! The dvd and the case itself are in great condition. So happy with this product! 😊

A Most Charming Movie....
I saw this movie and I just had to have my own copy for my library. Wonderful characters..... This is a special occasion movie. I save it for a nice quiet Sunday afternoon.....

Came Promptly
DVD came quickly after order was placed. Haven't viewed it yet and saving it for a surprise for my wife when we go on a fall foliage trip. Saw the film years ago and know she will enjoy it.
