The fire-breathing dragon has returned! As the third installment of the platform series, Spyro: Year of the Dragon incorporates new characters with free-roaming 3D adventure elements spanning vast fantasy worlds. There are over 30 levels included with hidden skateboarding, sharp-shooting, and boxing mini-games thrown in for extra measure. Exploring individual worlds won't be a walk in the park, however -- an evil sorceress condemned to the Forgotten Worlds has devised a sinister scheme of widespread terror. On the dawn of a cherished festival, the vile witch will unleash her power and minions upon the planet. In a perfect world, the Year of the Dragon Festival is a joyous time where dragon eggs are delivered courtesy of kind fairies and fire-breathing creatures celebrate until the sun comes out. Instead of celebrating, the dragons have been instilled with thoughts of fear and panic: receiving aide from the ominous Bianca and her army of Rhynoc cronies, the sorceress has stolen 150 dragon eggs and spread them throughout the four Forgotten Worlds. Although things are looking grim, the dragons are keeping hope alive. Enlisting the services of Bently the Yeti, a kangaroo named Sheila, Sergeant Byrd and the wise baboon Agent 9, Spyro is determined to thwart the plans of evil and save the day once again! With the addition of newly included characters, Spyro: Year of the Dragon marks the return of previous characters such as Sparx, Hunter, the Professor and Moneybags. Additionally, the playable creatures feature unique abilities used in defeating bosses and other things. While exploring the vast worlds, you'll encounter various obstacles including harmful critters, puzzles, and death-defying leaps and platforms. In this game, vehicles have been implemented including a speedboat, hovercraft and a rip-roaring rocket, all of which appear on certain levels. Also located throughout the Forgotten Worlds are important pickups including valuable treasure, flame enhancements, extra lives, and speed-increasing items; there are even specialty items strewn about for solving puzzles and completing various tasks. In addition to the single-player Adventure mode, there are redesigned Speed Rounds and a new Race mode. The Race mode will lock players in fierce racing competitions against enemy opponents. Recovering the dragon eggs and demolishing the sorceress' plans are the keys to victory -- will you maneuver Spyro and his friends to the path of victory or disappoint the legions of dragons?

Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon
Great game if you are one of those people who aren't spoiled from today's graphics or performance. If you are in it to get away from the modern generation of video game, and visit some of the old school compelling experience, this is one of those games. Although I'd recommend playing the Ripto's Rage or Spyro the Dragon (the first title) for anyone looking for an introduction to Spyro, Year of the Dragon still holds up pretty well today. However, do keep in mind this is rated E, so the story is rather generic and flawed, and the style is for kids. That being said, it doesn't mean Insomniac didn't know how to appeal to everyone's taste for 3D adventure. And I 100% assure skeptical viewers, Insomniac WAS NOT lazy about making a kids game, they treated their target audience with complete respect and not as an elementary intelligence pass. This especially shows from the first and second Spyro titles. Personally, I'd say it's one of the top 5 best Playstation series of all time. As I'll admit myself, it is one of those games where watching videos of this game seems boring, and I did in fact feel daunted to buy this game. With that said, from personal experience, I'd say to ignore the price and buy it for what you hope this game is, a laid back adventure with a fantastic value for its time.

Favorite game growing up!
I decided to get a Playstation remembering how fun it was as a kid and wanted the one game I enjoyed most: Spyro: Year of the Dragon. This game keeps you compelled to play! Now as an older system game and me having a large screen as probably not commonly used back when PS1 was first sold the graphics could be better, understandably, but this game is so fun I'd recommend it anyone who likes an adventure game to buy - finding eggs as the goal and getting all the gems you can!

Screen freezes constantly.
I purchased this particular game because it says in the description that it had been tested; however, it freezes with every cut scene and the music in all the worlds skips like a broken record player. I am barely able to play it, and I am afraid it is going to glitch permanently. If you say you tested the game, ACTUALLY TEST IT PAST THE TITLE SCREEN.

Great game
The game plays really nicely with my 15 year old ps2. Which is a hard feat to accomplish. So it was well worth the price.

Spyro Review
It's an old game, it's not supposed to have amazing graphics, but it works and I was absolutely ecstatic about that and getting to play one of my favorite childhood games(:
