The Game Rarely Seen
Great series from HBO. Finally an opportunity to see the teams, players and stadiums of the long gone past - in full color! People and places usually only seen in black and white photographs and newsreels now as they really were. And since much of the film was originally taken by teammates/club personnel you get a sense of what these people were really like. Not the faces they put on for the public but their real personalities. You see not only the stars and players of the day but some greats of yesteryear like Cy Young, Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner and others. Not only is this collection fun to watch but it's an amazing historical reference. You get to see the Green Monster when it was new, what the players did with their gloves between innings and the actual full color uniforms of the day, among other revelations. how true, when it was a game
