A director follows around a young actor, Nick Decker, trying to make it big in Hollywood, in order to capture his rags-to-riches story on film. Along the way the hapless actor runs into failure and catastrophe at every corner, while another rejected actor keeps turning up with a series of successes. To prop up the failing star, the director decides to hire Angie Everhart (as herself) to play Nick's glamorous girlfriend.
