Product Information
This acclaimed film traces the relationship between a death-row inmate and the local nun to whom he turns for spiritual guidance in the days leading up to his scheduled execution. Matthew Poncelet (Sean Penn) has been convicted of the rape and murder of two young lovers and is awaiting execution. Revenge and Regret of the Highest Magnitude
Although this movie is now about 30 years old, it still packs an emotional wallop, thanks to the performance of a talented cast and straightforward script-writing. It tells the disquieting story of a double-murder and the effects of the aftermath, both on the victims' families and the family of one of the perpetrators (portrayed very convincingly by Sean Penn). No matter how you feel about the justice system and capital punishment, you will be moved by this fine film.
