One fun Southern story book with a some good traditionall recipes
If you like a good read with some fun Southern stories PLUS recipes to use for any group, please pick this cook book up. A good guide for hosting low key events. So nobody needs to die to have a good time. But the selection of Southern situations and how they are handled did make me laugh out loud. No Excuse for Poor Manners, That Is
This is one of my top ten favorite books, and I have read it many times. I grew up in a small town, and although it wasn't in the Deep South, I recognize these people. Fun with Funeral Food.
This is NOT a mystery novel. This is a book about planning a funeral, Southern Style with all the appropriate details. The recipes are classic. (I have already baked one. Very Good.) You will have insights into flowers, food, appetizers & cocktails that will give comfort and be delicious at the funeral you are planning. Puts the fun in funeral
I read this cookbook cover to cover and laughed so hard the dogs came running more times than I can count. I think all southerners will relate to just about every word in it. I doubt anyone else will have a clue. I wasn't all that interested in the recipes, as I already know how to fix most of them, but I did give one of the grits a try. This just happened to be the day before the eclipse and I drove to see the totality--about 90 minutes away. All the way home, instead of marveling at the solar event I had just seen, I was thinking about the leftover grits and anxious to get home to finish them. Does that give you a clue how good they were?
