Accurate to the Manga
You probably heard mixed reviews about this film. If you read or are a fan of the manga series, you WILL enjoy this film. This anime is extremely accurate to the origin story of Ichi and captures his character perfectly. My one criticism is that it could have been longer. If your knowledge of this franchise doesn't go beyond Takashi Miike's film, then you probably won't enjoy this particular adaption. Ichi comes across very differently in the film than he does in the manga and anime.
