Neil Simon updates his successful stage and screen romantic comedy with this charming made-for-television version. THE GOODBYE GIRL tells the story of a divorcee, Paula McFadden (Patricia Heaton), who begins a new life with her daughter, Lucy (Hallie Kate Eisenberg). Paula's life is thrown for an even bigger loop when an egotistical actor, Elliot Garfield (Jeff Daniels), sublets her Manhattan apartment from her wayward boyfriend. Despite their initial hostility, this unlikely pair discovers romance as they help each other cope with the hardships of life in the big city. Directed by Richard Benjamin, THE GOODBYE GIRL features engaging performances from Heaton (EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND) and Daniels (DUMB AND DUMBER).

Good movie!
Another great " The Good Bye Girl"! Loved the first one with Richard Dreyfuss and Marsha Mason, and now this one with Jeff Daniels and Patricia Heaton. All are wonderful actors and were born for their parts. The first movie was set in the '70's and this one seems also to be set in the 70's, Not much was changed for the second. The young daughter steals the show. Not in a funny way, but a sensitive way and smart way. Watch if you enjoy drama with good light moments.

nice chick flick movie, the characters were appealing and I enjoyed it.
