Product Information

A small-time street tough from London finds himself enmeshed in a web of deceit, blackmail, and murder when he investigates the circumstances surrounding the death of his brother in Newcastle. GET CARTER is a hard-as-nails crime movie, featuring a brutal performance by Michael Caine that stands as one of his best. The film is based on the novel JACK'S RETURN HOME by Ted Lewis. It was remade for a blaxploitation audience a year later as HIT MAN, and in 2000 Sylvester Stallone starred in a remake, with Caine making an appearance in the film as well.

Revenge served very cold... and in a thin glass.
Excellent film, tautly played out and bleakly gripping. It makes effective use of local people and locations, in and around Newcastle upon Tyne. It omits the background and childhood experiences of the brothers Carter and their friends, so it's also worth reading the source novel 'Jack's Return Home', by Ted Lewis. A fine cast, headed by Michael Caine, excel in this film, with great direction by Mike Hodges and a cool soundtrack by Roy Budd. Unmissable.

True British Grit
If its British grit you're looking for then look no further - Michael Caine is at his absolute best. Totally engaging and convincing - totally recommended!
