A truly underrated classic.
This highly underrated historical epic follows the exploits of Newton Knight, a former Confederate-Army-soldier-turned-abolitionist, who led an heroic Unionist revolt in central Mississippi. Aided in his endeavor by a combination of escaped slaves and abused farmers, his conglomerates successfully lead a revolt against Confederate troops, creating the free state of Jones County. Great movie !
