A must see for those who like outstanding cinema and high quality acting portraying the life and times of a wealthy British family.
Highly recommend this PBS color version of The Forsyte Saga. The many twists and turns within this wealthy British family beginning in the later 19th century and continuing into the 20th century is full of romantic intrigue and shows that money can't buy love and happiness. Forcing one's selfish pride upon others invites tragedy and catastrophic disappointments of the heart. The acting is superb and the scenery and cinematography is top drawer. The discourse about the characters and story line made for great discussion among those who watched. After watching each episode there was a strong desire to watch the next, likened to the difficulty that exists in putting a good book down. The Forsyte Saga book is also a very worthwhile read and is strongly recommended.

The villain you love to hate gets his just rewards!
This series is BBC at its best. It has everything from the Villian you love to hate and then feel sorry for him.... to the character that you cheer for as she kicks him to the curb. Damien Lewis is soooo good in this. Such good casting of the characters. Beautiful costumes and great story line.

I'm also reading the book!
My only objection with the series is the casting of Irene. The actress just isn't what you picture when reading the book. Damien Lewis is fabulous, as I knew he would be. I love watching the series. I watch most series offerings on PBS. It's a great channel.

Great acting and lots of tension between characters
This period piece starts off a little slow. By episode 3 I was hooked. Superior acting and engaging characters. Romance and backstabbing a primary force in this PBS drama. Lots of tension between the main characters keep you on the edge of your seat. Unhappy marriages and cheating main theme here. I have gotten through first 5 episodes and can't wait to see what happens next.

Not like I remembered, but still good
I must have really thought that I was watching something else as a kid! I never saw the first half and I actually liked it better than the second half that I remember seeing when I was much younger. Still a good binge watch- I have already watched it 3x since buying it.

Tops!
Fascinating story, superb acting, IMO one of the best series I've seen on Masterpiece Theatre. Damien Lewis has never been better. I watched this series TWICE which I never did with Downton Abbey.

FABULOUS drama
I love Masterpiece Classic. I ordered this to fill in the gap during tje annual Masterpiece drought on PBS during the summer. I was pleasantly surprised by how good this production is. All the hallmarks of a top notch Masterpiece production.

One fantastic, engaging story brought to life in the sophisticated manner we’ve come to expect from all things British Cinema. Top-notch entertainment!

I h I have read the book,which took several weeks, and the video series is mostly true to the book.A really outstanding series. Well worth the price.

Good movie!
This is a really good movie which stays true to the book for the most part. I thought the characters were well played & enjoyed it thoroughly. I would recommend it to all John Galsworthy fans especially.
