Lights my fire!
I bought this to light my grill and it worked as described. I had a good fire going in about a minute. I can see where it will make it easy to light a few coals or a lot depending on the cook I'm doing. Good, but not excellent.
This tool for barbecuing is a "want" for getting your coals started, rather than a "need". You have to hold the button the whole time which can seem a little laborious considering that they could have just made a switch on it. When using the tool I hold the button for 30 seconds till it starts to spark and than slowly pull away, up to about 7 inches or so for another 30 seconds. Do this in 3 sections. Than close the grill and place the tool throught the air vent and hold the button for another 30 seconds to send more hot air down. This is barbecuing on a Kamado Joe. It definitely will shorten the length of time to get your coals started in the barbecue, but much like opening a wine to let it breathe you can just use starter cubes and wait longer. We all like things that are quicker and this certainly does that. It's just that for $80 that's a lot of starter cubes lol, hence my "no" for good value. Works good! Used chimney with news paper to light charcoal before getting this. That work great too, but when you emptied chimney in to grill there was ash floating in air making things a little messy. This eliminates mess and no cooking with lighting fluids bad for are health.Not maybe as fast as they say but it does work and less work than chimney. Heavy duty, Works great
Excellent product. Will light lump charcoal in seconds. The air blower spreads the fire fast and in 2 minutes, the fire will be roaring. People complain you have to hold the switch on. I think that is a safety issue. You would not want this to have a switch that you could turn on and walk away. It gets red hot very fast. Fast, effective, and fun to use
