Saxon math programs produce confident students who are not only able to correctly compute, but also to apply concepts to new situations. These materials gently develop concepts, and the practice of those concepts is extended over a considerable period of time. This is called "incremental development and continual review." Saxon Math 1
Saxon Math is a good solid program-it's like to tortoise of the tortoise and hare story. Solid and reliable, it does have repitition, however, the student will know the information by the time they complete the books. I like the way a variety of mathematics are integrated throughout. The student covers algebra, geometry and other math as introduced at a very low level and will not fear it when they are in that specific area because they are familiar with it.
